Belize and Mesoamerica Project continue working in the implementation of the Mesoamerican Cooperation Agenda

Belize City - The Executive Directorate of the Mesoamerica Integration and Development Project (PM) held a coordination meeting with the Director of Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belize, Orla Coleman, at the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) headquarters in Belize City to review the long term actions for the implementation of the Mesoamerican Cooperation Agenda in its Risk Management Sector.
Belize is a founding member of this integration and development mechanism since its origins in 2001. In the first phase of the Puebla Panama Plan, it was responsible for the regional coordination of the Mesoamerican Tourism Initiative. As of June 2008, at the X Summit of the Tuxtla Dialogue and Agreement Mechanism that was held in Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico, the country ratified its participation in the recently created Mesoamerica Project.
Under the frame of the Mesoamerican Cooperation Agenda during this first decade, Belize has benefitted from an ample project portfolio of USD $ 57 million. Moreover, the country can continue working in strategic projects such that improve its connectivity with the rest of the region.
The Mesoamerica Project is a coordination mechanism of dialogue that articulates cooperation, development and integration efforts between Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and the Dominican Republic. It also facilitates the design, management, financing and execution of projects and activities of regional interest and strategic importance, with concrete results from a cooperation of more than USD $ 4,000 billion between 2008 and 2018 to improve the quality of life of more than 230 million of inhabitants of the region.

Belize y Proyecto Mesoamérica continúan trabajando en la implementación de la Agenda Mesoamericana de Cooperación

La Dirección Ejecutiva del Proyecto de Integración y Desarrollo de Mesoamérica (PM) celebró una reunión de coordinación con la Directora de Cooperación del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Belize, Orla Coleman, en las oficinas del Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID) en Ciudad de Belize, Belize para revisar las acciones en la implementación de la Agenda Mesoamericana de Cooperación en su sector de Gestión del Riesgo.
Belize es Miembro Fundador de este mecanismo de integración y desarrollo desde sus orígenes en el año 2001. En la primera fase del Plan Puebla Panamá, tuvo a su cargo la coordinación regional de la Iniciativa Mesoamericana de Turismo. A partir de junio de 2008, en la X Cumbre del Mecanismo de Diálogo y Concertación de Tuxtla que se celebró en Villahermosa, Tabasco, México, ratificó su participación en el recién creado Proyecto Mesoamérica.
En el marco de la Agenda Mesoamericana de Cooperación durante esta primera década, Belize se ha beneficiado de un amplio portafolio de proyectos con USD $ 57 millones. Además, el país continúa trabajando en proyectos estratégicos para mejorar su conectividad con el resto de la región.
Proyecto Mesoamérica es un mecanismo de diálogo y coordinación que articula esfuerzos de cooperación, desarrollo e integración entre Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, México, Nicaragua, Panamá y República Dominicana. Además, facilita el diseño, gestión, financiamiento y ejecución de proyectos y actividades de interés regional y de importancia estratégica, con resultados concretos a partir de una cooperación de más de USD$4,000 millones entre 2008 y 2018 para mejorar la calidad de vida de los 230 millones de habitantes de la región.
